Mr. Peach Jam: Cayden Daughtry.

The Florida Rebels guard turned a summer scoring run into a Peach Jam championship.

By championship Sunday at Peach Jam, Cayden Daughtry had given defenders a summer's worth of evidence. They knew he could change pace, find a shot from difficult places and put points on the board in bunches. Knowing it and stopping it were different assignments.

The Class of 2027 guard drove the Florida Rebels to the 2026 Nike EYBL Peach Jam title. In the championship game against Drive Nation, he delivered 33 points, nine rebounds and six assists in a 71 to 60 win, according to NBA.com. The title gave a team result to a run already defined by individual production.

Pressure from the opening possession

Before the tournament, NBA.com reported that Daughtry led the EYBL regular season in scoring at 25.6 points per game. The early Peach Jam games kept that pace: 32 points with nine assists and seven steals against Team Melo, followed by 34 points with seven assists and three steals against Team Thad.

The numbers show more than a hot hand. Assists and steals sit beside the scoring because his best games asked him to create openings and change possessions on defense as well. The Rebels kept giving him the ball in consequential moments, and the tournament kept giving him another opponent to solve.

The championship answer

NBA.com reported a 32 point semifinal against Team Herro and a 33 point final. Its tournament recap also credited Daughtry with a 34.8 point Peach Jam average, including a 43 point game in a loss to the New York Rens. One night did not end the run. The Rebels reached the final and finished the job.

“Mr. Peach Jam” is the cover story's name for a summer that mixed scoring spectacle with a championship. The lasting argument is straightforward: Daughtry carried a heavy offensive burden, kept producing as the stakes rose and left the event with the trophy.

The next decision: where to play college basketball

Recruiting update · October 3, 2026

The trophy settled the summer competition. His college choice is still taking shape. Daughtry has moved from collecting scholarship offers to studying the programs behind them, with four official visits completed by the end of September.

Reported scholarship offers

Gators Wire reported that Daughtry narrowed 33 scholarship offers to a group of 14 schools in August. That announced group included Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisville, Miami, Michigan, Providence, Tennessee, UConn, USC, Vanderbilt and Villanova. These are the reported offers represented in his August list, rather than a complete history of every offer.

Official visits taken

In a September 30 recruiting update with Rivals, Daughtry discussed completed trips to Florida State, Tennessee, Iowa and Florida. His reported visit weekends were:

  • Florida State: August 28 to 30, 2026.
  • Tennessee: September 4 to 6, 2026.
  • Iowa: September 11 to 13, 2026.
  • Florida: September 25 to 27, 2026.

The dates follow the published fall itinerary; the September 30 report confirms those four stops had taken place.

What comes next

As of October 3, the Rivals visit tracker lists upcoming official visits to Miami on October 16, Louisville on October 24 and Arkansas on October 30. Those trips are scheduled, not completed.

UConn appeared on his original September itinerary, but Hoops HQ reported that the visit was cancelled after the Huskies secured a commitment from NaVorro Bowman Jr. It is not included among his completed visits.

For Daughtry, the next evaluation runs in both directions. College staffs have seen how he controls a game. Now he can weigh how each program would use that control: the freedom to create, the responsibility to organize an offense and the development plan behind the recruiting pitch.
