Careers in recruiting.

Help us find the next generation of basketball talent, one gym and one honest evaluation at a time.

D1HYPE is building regional recruiting coverage across the country. Our scouts follow high school and grassroots basketball, report what they see and give athletes a fair evaluation that reaches beyond a highlight clip. The four regional roles below share a common standard: accurate reporting, sound judgment and respect for young players and their families.

South / Regional opening

Regional Recruiting Scout: South

Cover the South's deep high school and grassroots basketball landscape, from major circuit stops to local gyms where emerging players may still be overlooked.

  • Attend regional showcases, school games, camps and grassroots events; build a reliable calendar and prospect watch list.
  • Write clear player evaluations covering skill, decision making, defense, physical development and projection.
  • Develop relationships with school and grassroots coaches while checking claims against firsthand observation and game film.
  • Flag rising players and follow their progress across the season, including changes in role and competition level.
East / Regional opening

Regional Recruiting Scout: East

Track prospects across the East's school, prep and grassroots programs, combining live evaluation with context about the competition they face.

  • Cover major events and local matchups, with attention to players outside the most visible programs.
  • Produce timely scouting notes and feature leads supported by full game observation, not just social media clips.
  • Maintain a regional network of coaches and event contacts without giving any source control over editorial judgments.
  • Compare prospects across different settings and revisit early impressions as players grow.
West / Regional opening

Regional Recruiting Scout: West

Report on talent across the West's school leagues, spring and summer circuits and independent events, where travel can bring very different players into the same gym.

  • Plan efficient event coverage and identify meaningful head to head evaluations.
  • Assess shooting, creation, defensive habits, feel for the game and consistency over multiple viewings.
  • Submit concise reports, verified player details and story ideas for D1HYPE's recruiting coverage.
  • Stay in touch with regional coaches and families while maintaining clear professional boundaries.
Midwest / Regional opening

Regional Recruiting Scout: Midwest

Build a regional picture of Midwest basketball that connects established programs with smaller markets and prospects still earning their first serious look.

  • Scout school seasons and grassroots events and keep a current list of prospects by class.
  • Explain how a player's role, team system and level of competition affect the evaluation.
  • Track development from one event to the next and correct reports when new evidence warrants it.
  • Pitch regional features and collaborate with editors on rankings and player profiles.

What every scout brings

  • Experience evaluating basketball players through live games and full game film.
  • Strong writing, organized notes and the ability to separate observation from projection.
  • Availability for regional travel and weekend events.
  • Care with names, classes, schools and other player details before publication.
  • Professional conduct with minors and families, including respect for privacy and disclosure of conflicts of interest.
